A women’s Sun Belt Conference tournament game between South Alabama and Coastal Carolina on March 4, 2026, was disrupted by a brawl that led to the ejection of eight players and a referee requiring medical attention. The incident occurred late in the fourth quarter, overshadowing South Alabama’s 80-70 victory.

Details of the Incident

With less than six minutes remaining in the game, South Alabama’s Cordasia Harris and Coastal Carolina’s Tracey Hueston engaged in a physical altercation under the basket. Harris appeared to bump Hueston from behind, prompting Hueston to turn and initiate physical contact. The confrontation escalated as both players exchanged pushes and swings.

Efforts to separate the players involved multiple referees, teammates, and staff members. During the melee, referee Marla Gearhar was struck in the head or neck area, reportedly by Hueston, and fell to the floor. Gearhar remained on her back as medical personnel attended to her. She was evaluated at the Pensacola Bay Center and subsequently released.

Immediate Consequences

Both Harris and Hueston received technical fouls and were ejected from the game. Additionally, six other players who participated in the altercation were ejected. The ejected players included:

South Alabama: Cordasia Harris, Daniela Gonzalez, Terren Coffil, Saneea Bevley, Princess Okafor Nweze, Jeriyah Baines, Amyah Sutton

Coastal Carolina: Tracey Hueston

Despite the disruptions, South Alabama secured an 80-70 win and advanced to the next round of the tournament.

Disciplinary Actions

Following the game, the Sun Belt Conference announced suspensions for the involved players. Coastal Carolina’s Tracey Hueston was suspended for the remainder of the 2026 postseason. South Alabama’s Cordasia Harris, Amyah Sutton, and Daniela Gonzalez each received a one-game suspension.

South Alabama Athletic Director Joel Erdmann expressed disagreement with the suspensions, stating:
“After an extensive internal review, I do not believe the actions of all three of our student-athletes rose to the level of being classified as fighting as defined by the NCAA rule book. This judgment has negatively impacted the tournament experience of our suspended student-athletes and stripped them of limited opportunities to compete in the postseason.”

Reactions from Coastal Carolina

Coastal Carolina Athletic Director Chance Miller issued an apology, expressing disappointment in the actions of the women’s basketball program.

Head Coach Kevin Pederson addressed the incident, stating: “We regret the actions that took place during today’s Sun Belt Conference Tournament game. In no way does what occurred reflect the core values or day-to-day mission of the women’s basketball program, as we hold our student-athletes to the highest standards both on and off the court. The actions today don’t reflect those standards, and we plan to address that quickly.”

Impact on Tournament Play

The suspensions left South Alabama shorthanded for their subsequent tournament game against Texas State. The absence of key players posed challenges for the team’s performance and strategy moving forward.

Broader Implications

This incident highlights the importance of maintaining sportsmanship and discipline in collegiate athletics. The involvement of a referee injury underscores the potential dangers of on-court altercations. The Sun Belt Conference and participating institutions may review policies and training to prevent future incidents.

What This Means for Women’s College Basketball

The brawl between South Alabama and Coastal Carolina serves as a reminder of the need for strict adherence to sportsmanship and conduct standards in college basketball. Such incidents can tarnish the reputation of programs and affect player eligibility and team performance. Moving forward, teams and conferences are likely to implement measures to reinforce appropriate behavior and ensure the safety of all participants on the court.

March Madness Odds

Betting on College basketball lines and odds are available with offshore college sportsbooks. While many states have passed domestic sportsbook services, offshore sites typically have better lines and aren’t geofenced, meaning that you can travel anywhere in the USA and place your wagers as the action unfolds.

As the 2025 college football season barrels toward its midpoint, bettors are locking in their picks for who will hoist the national championship trophy come January, and future odds from online college betting sites are painting a clear picture: Ohio State is the team to beat.

Buckeyes Surge in Futures Markets

Ohio State has emerged as the dominant force in college football this season, boasting a perfect 7-0 record straight up and an impressive 6-0-1 against the spread. Their offensive firepower, averaging 36.4 points per game, has propelled them to the top of the futures board.

Bovada’s online sportsbook initially listed the Buckeyes at +450 to win the national title, but their odds have since shortened to +275, reflecting both their on-field dominance and heavy betting action.

The Buckeyes also lead in betting volume, commanding the highest ticket percentage (11.7%) and handle (13.8%) among all teams. That means more bettors are backing Ohio State than any other program, and they’re putting serious money behind those bets.

Futures Betting: A Long-Term Play

College football betting sites enable fans to wager on future outcomes that will be determined months in advance, such as who will win the College Football Playoff, conference titles, or individual awards. These bets are placed well before the season ends, often at odds that shift dramatically based on team performance, injuries, and public sentiment.

For example, Alabama opened at +650, Georgia at +550, and Oregon at +750. But surprise upsets and breakout performances have shaken up the board. Indiana, after stunning Oregon, saw its odds improve to +800, while Penn State’s odds plummeted following a string of disappointing games.

Value Picks and Risky Plays

While Ohio State is the clear favorite, savvy bettors often look for value in mid-tier contenders. Teams like Texas (+500), Notre Dame (+1600), and Miami (+2500) offer higher payouts if they can string together wins and sneak into the playoff picture.

Of course, futures betting isn’t without risk. Injuries, coaching changes, and late-season collapses can derail even the most promising campaigns. That’s why many bettors hedge their futures bets with weekly wagers or diversify across multiple teams.

Strategy Tips for Futures Bettors

Bet early to lock in favorable odds before a team’s breakout.

Monitor line movement; shrinking odds often signal rising confidence or heavy betting volume.

Diversify your picks to balance risk and reward.

Watch for schedule strength; teams with easier paths may offer hidden value.

With the playoff race heating up and odds shifting weekly, now is the time for college football fans to get strategic. Whether you’re backing the Buckeyes or hunting for a dark horse, futures betting offers an exciting way to stay invested for the remainder of the season.
The post College Football Futures Betting, Ohio State Leads the Pack first appeared on College Betting Sites.

The 2019 college
football season is about to begin and online sportsbook Bovada has listed
Clemson as a major favorite to once again be the “Boss of the ACC.”

Dabo
Swinney’s Tigers, the reigning champions of the ACC and all of college
football, are at -350 to win the Atlantic Coast Conference. Falling in behind
them are some proud programs that can make claim to many national
championships, but their odds are not looking great this year.

Miami, a five-time national champion, has been given odds of +750 to take away the trophy from the four-time defending Tigers. Behind the Hurricanes, with odds of +1700, are the Cavaliers of Virginia.

And rounding out the top five are Florida State (+1800) and Syracuse (+2200).

Even the
mighty Seminoles, a program that won the last BCS Championship in 2013, are
expected to face a brutal uphill battle in their attempt to upend the champs.
FSU has lost to Clemson the last four years, including last year in
Tallahassee, when Clemson practically broke Doak Campbell Stadium’s scoreboard to
a tune of 59-10.

Clemson has ruled with an iron paw and there seems to be no end in sight. Trevor Lawrence, the surfer-looking guy they found in Georgia, is on campus for at least two more years.

He was
listed as a five-star recruit out of high school, but if he stays on his
current trajectory, a six-star system may have to be considered by the
recruiting services.

Dabo Swinney
and his staff have recruited well, but the golden-haired gunslinger is the
factor behind the overwhelming odds. In his first season at the helm, he led
the Tigers to a national championship over the most storied program in college
football history.

Alabama
entered the national championship as -5.5 favorites, but Lawrence and his Tiger
teammates had no problem getting the job done, winning 44-16 and adding another
piece of CFP hardware to their trophy case back in Clemson, South Carolina.

Teams like
Florida State and Miami and a few others in the ACC do recruit athletes on par
with Clemson, but it’s not far-reaching to say that Trevor Lawrence may
materialize into the next Peyton Manning.

His
legendary college career really has just begun, but he should be able to add
the phrase “2-time ACC champion” to his resume after he and his Tigers get done
mauling their way through the conference this year.

Below you can find the conference title odds for each of the teams in the ACC, per Bovada.

the 2019 ACC Championship

The win totals are out for this years NCAA football season, and we dive into the over/under odds for the Top-3 teams — Clemson, Alabama, and Georgia — in the preseason Coaches’ Poll.

Clemson Tigers – 11.5

Clemson woodshedded Alabama in last year’s title game. It was so bad that one wonders if Clemson enjoyed it as much as Auburn did. It was also a reminder that it’s important to pursue a recruit, in this case, Trevor Lawrence, who many experts had regarded as the next Peyton Manning. Clemson did so, and history was made.

And now in 2019, it’s round two
with the surfer-looking young man at Clemson. Unless he gets injured, it’s hard
to see any team on the Tigers’ schedule preventing them from winning 12 games
during the regular season.

Alabama Crimson Tide – 11

Trevor and Tua. Alabama and Clemson. Those four names seem to comprise most of college football betting lines talk these days—or at least championship and Heisman talk. Recruiting juggernaut Alabama does have a recent history of losing to less talented teams on occasion, but the key to preventing that this year may be Tua’s third year in the system and a strong offensive line.

The Bama defense should be solid
as usual. Rarely is there a drop-off on defense under Saban.

LSU and Auburn are always a
threat, but Jimbo Fisher’s Aggies may be the biggest threat. Otherwise, 12-0
seems obtainable.

Georgia Bulldogs – 10.5

What is it with all the heartbreak
that the Bulldogs endure? Athens, Georgia, is a beautiful town by any standard,
but it seems to be heartbreak central as well.

There is no shortage of talent, resources, quality coaching, or passion in Athens, and maybe Kirby just needed a few years to get the championship train in motion.

The schedule isn’t doing Georgia
any favors on its path to cover the 10.5. Notre Dame, Auburn, Florida, and
Texas A&M are four teams standing in the way, and Georgia could lose to any
of them.

Here is a complete list of the over/under win totals for the preseason Top-25 College Football teams at BetOnline.

After being given the worst odds of the eight baseball teams in Omaha, the Michigan Wolverines are one win away from winning the 2019 College World Series.

And oddsmakers still don’t believe in Big Blue.

Michigan defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores by a score of 7-4 in Game 1 of the 2019 CWS Final, pulling off the upset over the tournament favorite and positioning themselves to win the best-of-three series.

However, heading into Game 2, Vanderbilt is listed at -210 ($210 to win $100) odds on the money line and is still the heavy favorite to beat Michigan, who is listed at +180 ($100 to win $180) odds, according to BetOnline.

Oddsmakers have also set the over/under at 9 total runs scored by both teams for tonight’s game.

Vanderbilt entered the tournament as the co-favorites at +300 (25%) odds alongside the Arkansas Razorbacks but are now on the brink of elimination after a set back in the first game of the final.

Michigan, on the other hand, was given longshot odds by online sportsbooks and had +1400 (6.67%) odds of winning the title — the least likely of the eight NCAA baseball teams that qualified for Omaha.

Vanderbilt must win tonight in order to force a Game 3 against Michigan.

The first pitch of Game 2 between Michigan and Vanderbilt is set to be thrown out tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET from TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska.

ESPN will broadcast and stream the game on various platforms.

Game 3 of the 2019 CWS will start on Wednesday, June 25 at 7:00 p.m. ET if necessary.
The post 2019 CWS Final Odds: Vanderbilt Still Favored Over Michigan Despite Losing Game 1 first appeared on College Betting Sites.

Online sportsbooks are now offering college football betting lines and giving odds on who will be the head coach for the Ohio State Buckeyes before the start of the 2018 college football season.

After the news broke of Urban Meyer’s knowledge of former assistant Zach Smith’s history of domestic violence, Sports betting websites MyBookie and BetDSI were the first to post odds on whether or not Urban Meyer would be on the sidelines for the Buckeyes for the 2018 college football season.

One popular bookmaker is currently offering 3 prop bets and with two of them are essentially whether he will be fired or will be asked to resign. The other one is a little cheeky as it references a resignation press conference Urban Meyer had in 2009.

Urban Meyer Prop Bets:

Ohio State Head Coach Urban Meyer to be fired before Game 1:
Yes (-250) / No (+175)

Ohio State Head Coach Urban Meyer to resign before Game 1:
Yes (-300) / No (+200)

In addition to whether he will be fired or will resign, oddsmakers are also is poking a bit of fun at when Urban Meyer resigned as the Florida Gators head coach and cited “health issues” as the reason for leaving.

Ohio State Head Coach Urban Meyer to claim “health issues” as a reason for resigning:
Yes (+250) / No (-300)

Other sportsbooks are taking a more “black and white” approach to the odds for who will be coaching the Ohio State Buckeyes at the start of the college football season.

Other Ohio State Head Coach Prop Bets:

Urban Meyer is the head coach of Ohio State Buckeyes on September 1, 2018?
Yes (-300) / (+240)

Head coach of Ohio State Buckeyes on September 1, 2018?
Urban Meyer (-300)
Greg Schiano (+400)
Kevin Wilson (+600)
Ryan Day (+800)
Alex Grinch (+1000)
Les Miles (+1200)
Jim Grobe (+1500)
Rich Rodriguez (+1800)
Luke Fickell (+2000)
Justin Fuente (+2500)
Jim Tressel (+3000)
Lane Kiffin (+3000)
Houston Nutt (+5000)
Joe Moorhead (+5000)
Chris Ash (+5000)
Hue Jackson (+7500)
Tom Herman (+10000)
Jim Harbaugh (+20000)
James Franklin (+20000)
Nick Saban (+20000)

It’s important to note on Wednesday night, August 1, 2018, Ohio State University placed Urban Meyer on paid administrative leave and promoted offensive coordinator Ryan Day to the role of acting head coach until the investigation is complete and a decision regarding Urban Meyer’s future with the football program has been decided.

Ryan Day currently sits at +800, which means if a bettor was to wager $100 then they would win $800 if Ryan Day is still the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes on September 1, 2018.
The post It’s The College Football Betting Line No One Saw Coming first appeared on College Betting Sites.

The first College Football Playoff National Championship game was supposed to feature the two best offenses in the country. Oregon ranked first in total offensive yards heading to the game, and Ohio State finished third in this important stat. The two teams scored a total of 101 combined points in their semifinal games. A game reminiscent of a video game would have been amazing for the first true championship game in the history of college football, but Oregon’s offense forgot to make the trip to Dallas. As the very first CFP Championship game, the college football betting lines and odds surrounding the game were very active with football fans all over the nation getting in on college football betting at their favorite online sportsbook.

Ohio State was only a slight underdog heading into the game despite playing with their third-string quarterback Cardale Jones. Their hopes did not look too good when Oregon had a perfect drive to start the game. It would take less then three minutes for Oregon to put up their first touchdown via a 7 yard pass to Keanon Lowe. The Oregon Ducks’ offense was operating like it had all season, but the wheels would quickly fall off.

After the teams traded punts, Ohio State would show off their great offense on their second drive. Ezekiel Elliot would cap off a 97 yard drive with a 33 yard run to tie the game up at 7. Ohio State would quickly get the ball back after forcing another punt, and it would take them less than two minutes to put put another touchdown on the board via a 1 yard pass from Cardale Jones to Nick Vannett.

The Oregon Ducks offense would gain some momentum on their first drive of the second quarter, but they would be stopped on fourth down at the 1 yard line. Oregon is known for taking chances, but the gamble would ultimately cost the Ducks an easy three points. Ohio State looked like they were going to follow up the fourth down stop with a touchdown, but Corey Smith would fumble at the 9 yard line. The Buckeyes would not let the turnover discourage them because they would add another touchdown on their next drive. Oregon ended the first half with a 26 yard field goal to make the score 21-10.

Oregon’s offense would show some life at the beginning of the second half. A 70 yard touchdown pass to Byron Marshall and a short field goal on their first two drives would make it a 21-20 game. While the game was finally close again, the Oregon Ducks’ offense would completely disappear for the rest of the game. Ezekiel Elliot scored his second touchdown of the night on the last play of the 3rd quarter to give the Buckeyes an 28-20 lead.

Ezekiel Elliot would put the nail in the coffin when he added two more rushing touchdowns in the 4th quarter for a final score of 42-20. Elliot would finish with a total of 246 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Oregon is one of the few teams in college football that can win a game when giving up 40 points, but they picked the wrong time to score their least amount of points this season.
The post Oregon’s Prolific Offense Stalls Against Ohio State first appeared on College Betting Sites.

The post Is The PASPA Law An Infringement To US Sports Bettors? first appeared on College Betting Sites.

When the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 (PASPA) was signed into law, it was foolishly seen by many as a way to stamp out the evils of gambling as it related to both professional and college sports. The legislation, also known as the Bradley Bill, was named after the bill’s main sponsor former New York Knick, Bill Bradley, who was a New Jersey Senator at the time. Now, more than two decades later, it is New Jersey that is fighting tirelessly in trying to get the law repealed.

This past June, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear New Jersey’s appeal of lower court rulings that upheld PASPA in connection with New Jersey’s legalization of sports betting in 2012. While that may temporarily end the fight, another battle may depend on the right judge’s interpretation of the U.S. Constitution. New Jersey claims that the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act is unconstitutional due to its infringement on states’ rights. The primary opposition to New Jersey’s efforts is represented by the NFL, NBA, NCAA and MLB leagues, who are fighting tooth and nail to make sure expansion of US based sports betting does not take place.

The biggest argument in this fight to declare the law unconstitutional has been the fact that other states along with New Jersey believe that this boils down to a states’ rights question. They point out that four others states (Delaware, Montana Oregon, along with Nevada) were exempted from the original legislation, which would violate the principle of equal sovereignty, as well as damage the power of individual states to regulate their commerce, which is covered under the Tenth Amendment.

That states’ rights issue becomes even more pronounced when looking at the other gambling-themed entities which are already regulated by states. These include lotteries, casinos, as well as horse and harness racing tracks. Perhaps the most absurd aspect that was derived from the original passing of PASPA was that if sports betting, college sports betting in particular, were to be legalized, it would forever damage the moral fiber of America’s youth.

Opposed parties claim that expanding US sports betting options would introduce corruption into the college and professional sports leagues. There is no evidence of this however, and because this has not become a rampant problem despite the fact that US residents are able to bet on college sports through legal destinations in gambling regions such as Las Vegas, this argument is really weak according to most proponents of sports betting.

Given the string of gambling scandals pertaining to college sports that have periodically arisen since the law’s passage, it’s fairly clear that the NCAA’s attitude toward the legalities involved is an absolute joke. From Arizona State and Northwestern in college basketball to Boston College and Toledo in college football, young adults apparently haven’t gotten the memo that the law which allegedly protects them is a toothless tiger. Yet despite those examples, the NCAA continues to talk about the need to protect against the evils of college sports betting, even while they find it impossible to put out ethical and criminal fires that rage throughout their membership.

Regrettably, PASPA seems destined to remain on the books for at least the near future, despite obvious evidence of rampant hypocrisy with respect to the laws of sovereign states. New Jersey may just be the force that blows the controversy open enough for change to occur. Those of us involved in the industry will be watching and waiting to see what transpires as NJ proceeds with launching their state based sports betting industry in a way that they say complies with existing laws due to special provisions regarding specific restrictions applied to their betting lines.
The post Is The PASPA Law An Infringement To US Sports Bettors? first appeared on College Betting Sites.
